Can We Live Without
Water?
No! As a matter of fact, it’s so essential that we can only live days
without water while surviving weeks without food. But did you know it’s
also a critical asset for any good weight loss program and not just our
overall health and well-being? Water is what helps the body rid itself
of fat that is being burned off in the cells. Even mild dehydration
will slow down your metabolism as much as three percent. Not only that,
but here are some other reasons I counsel my patients to start consuming
more water!
1. Drinking water helps to suppress
the appetite – especially when thirst is mistaken for hunger pangs.
2. Feeling bloated? Bet you didn’t
realize how important water is to relieving fluid retention problems, did
you? If you don’t have enough water in your body, your body says, “No
way, I’m not giving any up,” so it retains it more!
3. Remember sodium, aka salt?
Water helps reduce the amount of build-up in the body. More than over
95 percent of American men and 75 percent of American women regularly
consume more than what our body really needs – not good for our blood pressure!
4. Is your body “polluted?” Drinking
a minimum of 2 quarts of water a day is essential for helping your body
excrete waste and toxins that build up.
5. Are you a little “blah” during
the day? Did you know that a lack of water is the number one trigger for
daytime fatigue? Drink up and feel better!
6. And what about your brain?
Is it going fizzle fizzle? Just a two percent decrease in your body
water actually triggers short-term memory loss, basic mental math computing
and difficulty in focusing. Stay a step of your coworkers by working smarter
in the brain staying hydrated!
So, I say, get in the water-drinking habit! Drink more water to better
your health and help that diet to the path of health success!
And remember, you’re always
worth it!
This Month's Question for the Doctor:
Question: I take an ALLBEE C-800, 2 citracal and 2 glucosamine
sulfate + MSM every morning. Would I be able to take active8 along with
or instead of these pills?
Answer from Dr. Steelman: It is OK to take these
supplements and Active 8 at the same time. They are compatible and should
work together well.
Question: Does it normally take more than
2 bottles to see results. I am on my 2nd bottle and I can't really see
a difference in my energy. I know all products do not work the same with
everyone. I seems like I have been sleeping better since taking it, but
other than that no other results. Any suggestions?
Answer from Dr. Steelman: Results should be seen
in two bottles or less. Sometimes the increase in energy is slight and subtle
and I've had patients who think they aren't getting results who stop it ...and
realize after a few days/weeks they are feeling worse.

Quick
& Easy Strawberry Cups
Courtesy of foodnetwork.com
Perfect for making ahead of time for company!
1 cup water
1 (4-serving size) package sugar-free lemon gelatin
10 ounces frozen unsweetened strawberries, partly thawed
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon sugar substitute (recommended: Splenda)
6 fresh strawberries, optional, for garnish
6 mint leaves, optional, for garnish
Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan. Put the gelatin and boiling
water in a blender, and process for 10 to 15 seconds to dissolve the gelatin.
Add the strawberries and process again, just long enough to blend in the
berries. Put the blender container in the refrigerator for 10 minutes, or
just until the mixture starts to thicken a bit.
Add 3/4 cup of the heavy cream, and process in the blender just long enough
to mix it all in, about 10 to 15 seconds. Pour into 5 or 6 pretty little
dessert cups and chill in the refrigerator, at least 1 hour.
With an electric mixer or by hand, whip the remaining 1/4 cup of cream
with the vanilla and sugar substitute. Top each cup with a dollop if whipped
cream. If desired, cut a strawberry into a fan-shape, and place on top with
a mint leaf to garnish. Va - la! Enjoy!

Some Water Drinking Tips to Remember!
Get in the habit
-
Drink a glass of water when you wake up first thing, two glasses
before every meal & another after the meal. You'll get the water your
body needs that way!
Don't wait until you're thirsty -
If you wait until you're thirsty, it's too
late! Your body is already too depleted, so drink water throughout the
day and your body will thank you for it!
Be careful of alcohol, soft drinks, coffee and caffeinated teas -
These actually dehydrate your body! So rely
on plain water, juices and milk for real beneficial sources of water hydration.
Remember to drink more if you're ill, have high
physical activity or eat a high fiber diet -
Illness often dehydrates the body far more
rapidly than one realizes - so can hot weather, exercise and high
fiber foods!

Healthy Eating - or in this case:
Happy Healthy Water Drinking!
